أعلن مكتب المدعي العام في بروكسل، الخميس 23 يناير، عن توقيف قاصر بتهمة التخطيط لهجوم إرهابي كان يستهدف أحد المساجد في المدينة.
ووفقا لتقارير إعلامية بلجيكية، تلقى مكتب المدعي العام يوم الأربعاء 22 يناير معلومات سرية كشفت عن انتماء المشتبه به لليمين المتطرف، وخططه لتنفيذ هجوم على مسجد خلال صلاة الجمعة في 24 يناير، حيث يكون المسجد مكتظا بالمصلين.
وأشارت المصادر ذاتها إلى أن السلطات فتحت تحقيقًا وداهمت منزل المشتبه به فجرا.
بعد اعتقاله، تم إيداعه في مؤسسة عامة لحماية الشباب (IPPJ) ضمن بيئة مغلقة.
