أعلن وزير الداخلية التركي، علي يرليكايا، أن مسلحين شنا هجوما، صباح اليوم الأحد، على كنيسة كاثوليكية في إسطنبول، ما أدى إلى مقتل شخص واحد.
وأوضح المسؤول التركي، في تصريح نقلته وسائل الإعلام، أن الهجوم وقع قرابة الساعة 11,40 من صباح الأحد بالكنيسة الكاثوليكية الإيطالية “سانتا ماريا” في منطقة ساريير في إسطنبول، مضيفا أن رجلين ملثمين نفذا الهجوم.
ولفت الوزير إلى أن شخصا كان يشارك في القداس الديني توفي بعد الهجوم المسلح، مؤكدا أن “الجهود مستمرة لإلقاء القبض على المهاجمين”.
وفرضت قوات الأمن التركية طوقا أمنيا في المنطقة بعد الهجوم، وتم إرسال العديد من فرق الشرطة إلى مكان الحادث.
